Be very aware.  Dog owners/parents Cowes.

This afternoon my 8 year old Cocker Spaniel was attacked in Northwood Park.
A young golden tan coloured Staffordshire type dog, entered the park off lead followed by its middle aged female owner.
My dog went to say hello. I called my dog to heel and she came, I put her lead on.  The other dog was following behind her.  It seemed to want to play.
The other dog started to growl and then was  attacking my dog, at this point I picked my dog up. The other dog jumped up and had my dog by the leg in it's jaws.
I had to fight to protect my dog and eventually the other dog let go.
By this time the owner had arrived a little late! I said 'you should have this dog on a lead'.  Her response was 'he doesn't like it when people pick up their dogs'.  I could not believe what I was hearing, absolutely ridiculous.  If I had not picked up my dog I dread to think what damage may have been done to her.
Although my dog was shaken up and traumatised, luckily she wasn't severely hurt.
I am so angry that this owner did not even stop to see if my dog was injured.  No apology. She could only blame me for the fact that her dog was untrained and off lead. She was calling her dog to heel but it was not taking any notice.
I am writing this as my dog was lucky but the next victim (god forbid it's not a child) may not be.
    Advice about buying a pet
    • There are already thousands of dogs in shelters that would make loving companions - consider adopting a rescue dog.
    • NEVER buy from anyone willing to deliver a dog by courier & report it to our team.
    • Visit the pups & their mum. Take our 'Visiting a Puppy' checklist with you.
    • HELP STOP PUPPY FARMING: If any of the criteria on the checklist is not met or something doesn't feel right, look elsewhere for your new canine companion.
