Shar Pei Puppies For Sale: Breed Tips
Shar Pei Breed Information
Shar Peis for Sale
Chinese Shar Pei puppies (or Shar Pei puppies) are dogs that were originally bred for fighting. Their appearance is well-known as they are very wrinkly. The Shar Pei puppy grows to be quite a large dog, and as such is not usually appropriate for first time dog owners. See the following guide if you are considering Shar Pei puppies for sale.
Representations of the Shar Pei puppy have been seen in ancient Chinese art dating back to 206 BC. This shows that they are an extremely old breed. However, they only reached Western shores in the 1960s, and have since become a recognisable breed everywhere.
With an average height of 45cm to 50cm Shar Peis are considered to be large or medium dogs. They tend to weight between 30 and 40lbs. Chinese Shar Pei puppies have wrinkly ears, a blunt muzzle, tiny eyes and face and a wrinkly neck. The coat can be smooth or long haired. Their colouring can vary greatly and their tongues are blue-black (which is very rare in dogs).
The reason these dogs have such wrinkly skin is because they were bred that way for fighting. The wrinkles were supposed to protect the dog’s organs. This breed has also historically been used for guarding.
Although this breed appears lazy, if you are considering Shar Pei puppies for sale, you should know that they do require plenty of exercise. Often, they face many health issues. These can include inverted eyelids, skin problems, and kidney problems. The Shar Pei puppy can also be quite aggressive towards other dogs.
