'Dugs n Pubs', your dog friendly guide in Aberdeen
Rhian Matthews found out how difficult it was to find a pub that will allow you to bring your pooch by your side after her and her family adopted their Lhasa Apso puppy, Bailie, in 2009.
Obviously, the first she wanted to do was to take him out and wondered if there was other pubs in Edinburgh other than their local dog-friendly pub The Bailie in Stockbridge that would accommodate the newest member of their family when they fancied a social drink.
Unsure of where to look, the 37-year-old decided that there was something the dog-owning community was missing – and so Dugs 'n' Pubs was born.
An online dog-friendly guide for dog owners, Dugs in Pubs is a website full of recommendations for dog welcoming pubs across the country.
It quickly spread withhin the dog owners community and the site boomed so much that Rhian started to feel a bit overwhelmed with suggestions and tips. Hence, the website was opened up to public recommendations.
Now Dugs 'n' Pubs is a thriving community where dog owners can add their recommendations and the site has expanded from public houses to cafes, pubs, restaurants, hotels and even camp sites that are more than happy to accommodate canines
The website has been renamed to dugswelcome.com
