Your stress level when going on holidays and leaving your dog in a kennel might be a cause for your dog to get more excited too and when being transported in the passenger compartment of a vehicle increases the chance of having an accident.

You should prepare a route to the kennel before so you can pay attention not only to the street signs and directions but also to traffic. If you feel guilty about leaving your dog in a kennel you shouldn’t as it might feel it as well and get nervous.

If your dog is very sensible, the best time to check it in to a boarding kennel is in the morning or early afternoon. In this way it might gets used to a new place during the daylight hours and it gives you a possibility to call and get an update on how your pet is doing before you leave town.
