NewsUK Dog NewsThursday 07 July 2011

"Blind Dave", aged 53, has won taxi dog ban equality case at Warley Magistrates Court.

In October 2010, Dave was banned from entering a taxi with its guide dog Wicksie in Sandwell. Taxi driver, aged 28, of Lewisham Road, Smethwick, was ordered to pay a total of £665 in the case, brought with the help of Sandwell Council. He admitted barring a disabled person from his cab, despite a booking confirming the man had a guide dog.

Dave Heeley is famous for completing seven marathons on seven continents in seven days for charity in 2008 and is known in his home town of West Bromwich as "Blind Dave Heeley". You can visit his web site here.
