300 dogs rescued from the puppy mill

276 dogs were rescued last Wednesday from a puppy mill in Lenoir, North Carolina (USA), according to the Republic.com. The owner has been charged with animal cruelty as the animals were kept in stacked cages at a temporary shelter.

Puppy mill, also known as a puppy farm, is a commercial dog breeding facility focused on profits and not animal welfare. The dogs kept in cramped quarters are often developing serious health problems and behavioral defects.
