This year International Day of Action for South Korean Dogs and Cats took place last week, 16th August, coinciding with the period of the highest consumption of dog meat in South Korea.
Although the number of people who consume canine meat in South Korea has decreased, there are still hundreds of dogs who are being electrocuted or bludgeoned to death every year. The animal welfare movement has become more active and stronger in their fight for banning the eating of dogs.
