Dog rescue charity in lost whippet appeal
A dog charity has urged for help in tracking down one of their rescued animals after it ran off at Anderby Creek.
Rehoming charity Scruples Whippet Rescue works tirelessly across the UK to help rehome the friendly dogs.
But when the new owner of one of their rescues went on holiday to the coast last week, tragedy struck when the animal ran off.
“One of our worst fears was confirmed when one of our successfully rehomed animals went missing,” said a spokesperson.
“Her new owner was enjoying the first day of her holiday when the dog ran off and there have been no sightings since.
“Duchess is a black whippet and was lost at Anderby Creek off Sandy Lane when she ran onto fields at approx 11.30am on Tuesday, February 28.
“Her owner is desperate to find her.
“Duchess herself is not familiar with the area at all. She is a nervous dog, unlikely to go up to people.
“But she has a lovely temperament and will not snap or bite if approached.
“If found please do approach her and clip a lead on her,” they added.
Duchess is speyed, microchipped and was wearing a collar with an ID tag when she went missing. For more information go to www.scrupleswhippetrescue.co.uk.
