Dog starved to death
Sid, a staffordshire bull terrier, was found death in September 2007 starved to death. It's owner was not found until July 2009 and now he has been sentenced to 4 months'jail and banned from owning an animal for the rest of his life.
According to the SPCA inspector, the dog weighed just 10.5 kilograms, half the usual weight of a dog of its breed and age. Starvation was the most likely cause of death as an autopsy showed his stomach contents consisted of grass, stick fragments and dirt. There was almost no fat around the dog's abdomen, or under its skin. As for the vet's report it passed away in terrible pain.
