Dog Walk Denied By Council
A dog walk on Peirce Island (USA) has been denied recently after city officials expressed their deep concern over possible negative impacts it might have.
The special permit request from the Cocheco Valley Humane Society to organize the dog walk in October was denied last Monday by the City Council. The 14th annual Dog Walk and Vendor Fair would gather about 400-500 people and 300 cars according to the seacoastonline.com. The officials argumented their decision that the number of people scheduled and a 'dog walk' would overwhelm the area and expressed their concern over the number of people and cars the event could attract to the island. The Peirce Island Committee said that the island is a place to relax and enjoy by Portsmouth resident and the idea of organize such event would attract other requests to hold similar actions.
