A loner is his sixties was discovered partially eaten by his dogs after authorities were alerted by neighbors who hadn't seen him in several weeks.

A police officer made the gruesome discovery in an upstairs bedroom at the home last Friday. It was estimated that the man had been lying dead for some time.
Several of the 50 dogs at the home in Elizabeth Township, Ohio, had to be put down because they had become so emaciated. Others starved to death.

The man has not been identified because no family members have yet been found.
Lawrence County Dog Warden Benny Call said the scene at the home, which was covered in trash and animal waste, was horrifying.

He told WSAZ3: 'I've been to a lot of bad situations since I've been here. I believe this was the worst.'
Mr Call added that wardens would often go to the man's home to offer help with his animals but were told to leave.

Eight dogs were now being cared for at the Lawrence County Dog Shelter. Dead cats were also found on the man's land in a trailer.

One neighbor Charlie Jenkins told the TV station: 'He just wanted to be by himself all the time, just be with his dogs.'
