Shanghai bans dogs
Due to the increasing incidents of rabies in China, the government has banned raising of pet dogs in Beijing and what is more, ordered all the pet owners to get rid of their dogs by 10th August, according to Global Times last week.
The ban from keeping pet dogs in downtown Pengjian, Jianghai and Xinhui districts, do not include service dogs. Any dog owners who do not fulfil the new rule are going to be contacted by government workers. The new law is going to affect more than 30.000 canines living in the city.
During the last three years, over 42 people died due to rabies.
