Shelter Dog Sunday - Charlie
Every Sunday we are running a special feature on a rescue dog looking for a loving home. This week, the spotlight is on Charlie, who is looking for a very understanding and experienced home.
Battersea Dogs and Cats Home is the well-known backdrop of ITV's Paul O'Grady - For The Love of Dogs but what you see on the show is only a fraction of the work that the shelter do. Battersea takes on over 9000 cats and dogs a year, including Charlie - who is our featured shelter dog this week!
Pin-up pup Charlie is a handsome, 8 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who is waiting at the Battersea Brands Hatch center for his new forever home. Despite his gorgeous face and big, soft eyes, Charlie has some underlying in securities and expresses attention-seeking behaviour. He is very under-socialised and as a result his behaviour can blight his interactions - both with people and other dogs.
Shy, nervous or fearful dogs require experienced owners with a lot of time and patience in order to flourish. Making a nervous dog blossom into a happy, well-adjusted pet is a challenging but rewarding journey, and requires an understanding of training, dog body language and other factors that Battersea will be able to tell you about.
Charlie needs very experienced owners who are willing to put in the time and energy required for him to settle into a new home, overcome his anxieties and become a loyal and loving companion. The rewards for taking on an anxious dog are tremedous, and in return Charlie will be forever grateful that you gave him a chance.
If you can offer Charlie a very special home, please call Battersea Dogs & Cats Home on 08435 094444 or contact them by email at [email protected] Charlie's reference number is 278100.
