Every Sunday we run a special feature on a rescue dog looking for a loving home. This week the spotlight is on the super-cute Gizmo - a happy gent waiting for a loving home at Battersea Dogs Home!

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home is the well-known backdrop of ITV's Paul O'Grady - For The Love Of Dogs but what you see on the show is only a fraction of the work that the shelter do. Battersea takes on over 9000 cats and dogs a year, including Shih Tzu Gizmo - who currently resides at Battersea's London centre.

What a cutie we have for you today! 9 year old Gizmo is a happy chap who can't wait to get out of kennels and into a forever home. He has shown some issues around strangers and other dogs so he needs to find an experienced, quiet home with people who will understand his insecurities and have had dogs like him before.

Potenital owners need not be put off by Gizmo's age, as there are many benefits to adopting an older dog. In general, they require less attention that a puppy and have reached maturity, meaning they are more easy-going. That said, don't be fooled by this sweet chap's age; he still has plenty of pep and loves his walks! Shih Tzu's also have the added benefit of shedding very little, meaning they are ideal dogs for people who usually suffer with allergies or asthma.

Gizmo adores being around people he knows and says it with a big goofy grin! Once he has bonded with you he will be your loyal friend for life.

If you could offer Gizmo a home, please call Battersea Dogs & Cats home on 08435 094444 or contact them by email on at [email protected]. Gizmo's reference number is 314393.
