Shelter Dog Sunday - Queenie
Every Sunday we run a special feature on a rescue dog looking for a loving home. This week the spotlight is on beautiful Queenie - a sweet, easy-going senorita waiting for a forever home.
Battersea Dogs and Cats Home is the well-known backdrop of ITV's Paul O'Grady - For The Love Of Dogs but what you see on the show is only a fraction of the work that the shelter do. Battersea takes on over 9000 cats and dogs a year, including Queenie - a completely stunning 8 year old mongrel waiting for a loving home at Battersea's London branch!
Beautiful Queenie is the Spanish belle of the ball at Battersea, and many staff and visitors have fallen head over heels for this lovely lady. She is generally an easy-going character, but - despite her age - still has oodles of energy. For this reason she's looking for a family who love going for walks and are looking for an active companion with the basics in place.
And if her striking good looks weren't enough, sweet Queenie has brains too - as she understands Spanish commands! This does mean that her new owners will need to teach her some English ones too, but no doubt she will pick them up very quickly as she is obviously a bright spark!
Potenital owners need not be put off by Queenie's age, as there are many benefits to adopting an older dog. In general, they require less attention that a puppy and have reached maturity, meaning they are more easy-going. As we've said before, however, Queenie doesn't act her age at all and loves being out and about! And the good news is that mongrels are generally longer-living than their pedrigree couterparts, so you will have many years of companionship from Queenie ahead!
If you could offer Queenie a home, please contact Battersea Dogs & Cats home on 08435 094444 or contact them by email on at [email protected]. Queenie's reference number is 312880.
