Shelter Dog Sunday - Remi
Battersea Dogs and Cats Home is the well-known backdrop of ITV's Paul O'Grady - For The Love Of Dogs but what you see on the show is only a fraction of the work that the shelter do. Battersea takes on over 9000 cats and dogs a year, including Remi - a lovely Bull Mastiff waiting at Battersea's Old Windsor Branch for a loving family.
Remi is a nice girl who already has some basic training in place - she knows 'Sit', both 'Paws', 'Down' and 'Stay'! She's friendly and sociable with other canines, but Battersea think she would probably prefer to be the only dog in her new home so she could have all the fuss and attention for herself!
She is still learning to spend time on her own, and so would need owners who are around for most of the day. They will need to be able to continue this aspect of her training so she can settle into her new home and get used to being left alone for periods of time.
Remi is a big strong lady, so her new family would ideally need to have experience of large breeds so that they are able to handle her comfortably. Active owners would be best for this lady, and she would prefer to live in a rural location with some space to stretch her long legs! Remi might be able to live with teenagers who know how to be responsible with large dogs like her. However, she is not very fond of felines as all - so her new home would have to be cat-free!
She is popular among the shelter staff and volunteers, who see lots of potential in her. She will be an asset to the right home and will bring you lots of joy!
If you think Remi is the gentle giant for you please contact Battersea on 08435 094444 or email them at [email protected] Remi's reference number is 308808.
Battersea are running their biggest ever appeal for the new kennels they are building. To make a donation of £5 simply text DOGS to 70800.
