Shelter Dog Sunday - Sonny
Every Sunday we run a special feature on a rescue dog looking for a loving home. This week the spotlight is on Sonny, a cuddly 8 year old Staffie!
Battersea Dogs and Cats Home is the well-known backdrop of ITV's Paul O'Grady - For The Love Of Dogs but what you see on the show is only a fraction of the work that the shelter do. Battersea takes on over 9000 cats and dogs a year, including Sonny - a handsome gent looking for his forever home!
Despite being 8 years of age and having a little extra weight on him, Sonny loves nothing more than running around after a tennis ball. His new owners would need to help him slim down a bit, but with this playful boy's lust for life that shouldn't be too difficult at all!
Sonny loves everyone he meets and is at his most happy when having a cuddle or a good old belly rub! This ability to get on with everyone is typical of his breed - which is often given a bad rap due to the unfair stereotypes about Staffordshire Bull Terriers. To find out more about Staffies check out Battersea's Softer Than You Think Campaign.
Sonny needs to continue his socialisation with other dogs as sometimes he is a bit worried around them. Other times, however, he's a little too 'amorous' so his new owners would have to be happy to continue this part of his training.
Ultimately, Sonny just wants some love and a good fuss - making him the dream companion for cuddling up on the sofa with! Don't let his looks fool you, he's still a puppy at heart and will provide the right owners with many years of happiness!
If think you could give Sonny the forever home he needs, please contact Battersea on 08435 094444 or email them at [email protected] Sonny's reference number is 311032.
Battersea are running their biggest ever appeal for the new kennels they are building. To make a donation of £5 simply text DOGS to 70800.
