As her foster I nearly didn't let this one go but if I keep her I cant help other dogs in need, so here goes.
Jem is an unknown unusual mixed breed. She is small to medium. If you think Husky cross Corgi cross Schnauzer you would be on the right track as to her look.
She is approx 11-12months old so only a youngster and for her age is very well behaved apart from being extremely foody and pinching the odd sock and rubber gloves... what is it with socks?!
She does require a family who can give her a fair bit of exercise, she is fantastic off lead with excellent recall. She would happily run along side a bike or take long walks regularly. If she has a decent walk morning and afternoon/evening she is a dream in the house and settles well.
She picks up training and commands very quickly and is lovely to work with. She walks well on the lead and isn't a great puller but 'can' pull quite hard when excited. She can be walked comfortably on a harness or collar.
She is currently living with very young children and is fantastic with them, she 'can' mouth hands etc when excited but she is not rough with it and should stop with a little more maturity. She absolutely adores children and is a very patient and affectionate dog. The only thing she loves more than food is cuddling!
She will bond strongly with her new family and I have worked hard to ensure she didn't suffer with separation anxiety, building up the time she can be left. If this is continued she wont be a problem at all, currently she does nothing more than pace briefly with a short little whimper and then takes herself off to bed.
She can be nervous of some men if they are louder confident men. She doesn't have an aggressive bone in her but will bark if theres a man she doesn't like or someone waves their arms around when talking for instance (which sometimes isn't necessarily a bad thing) she will then let them stroke her if they continue to approach, it just makes her a bit nervous.
Jem is just a fantastic all round young family dog for a relatively active family. She travels well crated (30") in the car, sleeps at night, good off lead, good with other dogs, good with children, toilet trained. She should grow into a lovely sound dog and we will miss her hugely, we have had to think hard about letting this one go.
She is neutered, fully up to date on vaccines, worming and kennel cough, very healthy and available to meet in Rye East Sussex. If you feel you could be the family for Jem please email [email protected]
for an application form in the first instance. Homecheck and Adoption fee applies.
Advice about buying a pet
There are already thousands of dogs in shelters that would make loving companions - consider adopting a rescue dog.
NEVER buy from anyone willing to deliver a dog by courier & report it to our team.
Visit the pups & their mum. Take our 'Visiting a Puppy' checklist with you.
HELP STOP PUPPY FARMING: If any of the criteria on the checklist is not met or something doesn't feel right, look elsewhere for your new canine companion.
