Buying the Best Electric Shaver for a Dog | Dogs and Puppies

Articlegeneral dog adviceWednesday 18 May 2011

Dog grooming does not have to cost the Earth. With a good pair of dog clippers, it is possible to groom a dog yourself without the need for expensive professionals. When you start dog trimming, you will need to find a good electric shaver. For advice on buying the right dog clippers, see below.

    • Many people do not realise that dog trimming can also be done by using shavers made for humans. Many of these are actually very similar to those marketed specifically to groom a dog.

    • If you have a dog that has long and thick hair, you will need dog trimming equipment that can cope. A shaver that can be adjusted with attachments will be useful in this case. It will help with cutting all hair lengths and parts on your dog’s body.

    • When buying good dog clippers, make sure you get some that plug straight into the mains, rather than a wireless battery operated one. This will ensure that you do not run out of power half way through dog grooming.

    • Make sure you know about how to groom a dog properly before you use the dog clippers. This will prevent any accidents or harm to the dog.

    • When dog trimming, you may find you will need a bikini razor. These are particularly effective for smaller areas such as around the eyes and the toes of tiny dogs. However, these will not be sufficient for complete dog grooming.
