    NewsAnimal CrueltyWednesday 15 June 2011

A man from Rangiora, New Zeland, has been convicted and fined for stabbing a dog to death.

A 27-year-old man was convicted yesterday for stabbing his girlfriend’s schnauzer, Jayjay, to death. The man is believed to have suffered serious mental problems that led him to kill the dog with a single stab wound when the pet was disturbing him to sleep. The dog’s owner forgave the man as he was sorry for what he head done and expressed his will to resolve his problems.

The man was charged with $2000 fine with an order that $1500 of the fine be paid to the SPCA which had brought the prosecution under the Animal Welfare Act.
