    Caerphilly couple suffering jail sentences

    NewsAnimal CrueltyThursday 12 May 2011

A couple from Caerphilly pleaded guilty to three charges at the town’s magistrates court and was banned from keeping animals or owning any animal for life.

On November last year the RSPCA inspector visited the couple’s house in Penyrheol where she found a bull mastiff type dog named Sally kept in a garden shed and another called Sox kept in the house. Both dogs were very underweight and Sally was severely emaciated with early kidney failure and infected liver.

Sox was managed to be rehomed by a neighbour and Sally was being looked after by the RSPCA. Unfortunately, although the dog’s condition improved she was put down as she bit a member of staff and she could not have been placed in a new home knowing it might have repeated.
