Doggy diva! Mariah Carey hand feeds her pampered pet pooch a strawberry

She's usually the one getting pampered (as legendary tales of thread counts seem to attest) but Mariah Carey has tweeted a picture of her treating her dog to a bit of superstar attention.

The 42-year-old mother of twins can be seen smiling at the camera as she holds out the fruit to a very excited Jill E.Bean.

Alongside the picture she wrote: 'Ok, apparently my dog likes strawberries, should I be concerned?'

The short answer is no, strawberries are perfectly safe for dogs as long as they're washed carefully first to remove pesticides.

But feeding dogs human food is a minefield best avoided as mushrooms, chocolate, raisins and onions are just a few of the treats that can prove fatal.

Carey is on vocal rest to prepare for an upcoming performance for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

Mariah – who has 14-month-old Moroccan and Monroe with husband Nick Cannon – owns five Jack Russell terriers including Jill E.Beans.

Her other pups are called JJ, Cha-Cha, Dolomite and Jackie Lambchops.

The dogs had their own room at the hospital where Mariah gave birth to her twins and reportedly went into therapy to prepare for their arrival.

'We took over the entire hospital,' Nick told SheKnows. 'It was the Mariah wing. We had seven rooms. My mom had a room, the dogs had a room. It's beautiful because our family came together.'

But Nick's prediction that the babies birth would see the end of the dogs gilded existence has certainly not come to pass.
'I don't see why the dogs have to be in the house,' the 31-year-old told George Lopez on Lopez Tonight at the time. 'My wife loves her dogs, but we have babies now, so get your ass in the backyard.'
