NewsGeneral Dog NewsMonday 29 October 2012

Hunting bombs in Afghanistan and saving lives, these dogs have a big job.

These select German Shepard’s are carefully trained to detect the smell of the bombs. Dog handlers will be in charge of these courageous creatures. There biggest job is to stay calm in times of trouble, because if they are not, their emotions will reflect onto the dogs. - 'Your emotions go down the leash' [].

The dogs are well taken care of including being well fed, getting enough exercise, check them over to ensure they are in good health and companionship through playing with them.

When the dogs are at work and they find a bomb, they are taught not to dig at it or cause attention, but to sit and stare where they think the bomb is. This method is very subtle and keeps everything incognito.
