Manx police share puppy litter with Cumbrian force

NewsGeneral Dog NewsWednesday 04 January 2012
A litter of German shepherd puppies bred from animals trained for the Manx police dog unit is to be shared with a force in the UK.
Two of the five-week-old puppies will be given to the police dog unit in Cumbria.
Another will stay on the island and one is to be donated to the Service Dogs UK and International (SDUKI) charity.
Sgt Ian Kelly said: "Sourcing quality dogs is an ongoing challenge for all forces, and we are pleased to assist."
He added: "We are really pleased how well this has worked out, and the strong links we have with Cumbria and SDUKI are further benefited too."
The puppies are the offspring of Bodie, a police dog which started working for the Isle of Man force in 2008 at the age of 10 weeks.
