Oh My Dog! You Have to See This Dog Rescue Calender...With a Twist

    NewsWednesday 15 October 2014

As you know we always love promoting the latest fundraising products and ideas for animal welfare charities. But the latest calender unveiled by Louie's Legacy Animal Group in New York City definitely has got our attention - and we reckon it will get you hot under the collar!

Have a dog-loving friend who's difficult to buy for at Christmas? Or perhaps just want to treat yourself? Well the 'Hunks and Hounds' Calender might be the gift to answer all your prayers!

The calender, which has been released by Louie's Legacy Animal Group and created by celebrity photographer Mike Ruiz, features chizzled topless men posing with some of the charity's rescue dogs. The proceeds from the calender go straight to the animal shelter.

Louie's Legacy is a non-profit, all-breed rescue which saves, rehabilities and rehomes animals from high-kill shelters across the United States. The charity operates in New York City, as well as Cincinnati, Ohio and Staten Island, New York.

Photographer Mike adopted his own pit bull in 2012, which promoted him to start thinking about a project that would help more animals in need. He eventually settled on the traditional idea of a charity calender, resulting in the extraordinary 'Hunks and Hounds'. Mike shot the calender over two days last month and began taking pre-orders at around the same time.

'It has been a wild success, far beyond our expectations,' Mike, 49, said, 'We are so happy that so many more dogs who need to be adopted or fostered will now have the chance. I hope we sell a million so that Louie's Legacy can broaden their services to be able to help more dogs find forever homes.'

Mike has photographed famous celebrities such as Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and Kim Kardasian - but we think this is his best work to date!
