Police dog suffers serious injuries in London riots

NewsUK Dog NewsWednesday 24 August 2011

The police dog that suffered serious injuries when one of the thugs had thrown a brick towards the canine, kept on patrolling the streets for another two hours, according to the Daily Mail.

Although the German Shepherd, aged 3, was badly injured and had blood dripping from its head, the dog kept on fulfilling its duty and patrolling the streets during the London riots. However, after the action, the dog became lethargic and was showing signs of head trauma so it had to be taken to the vet and then transferred to the Royal Veterinary School in Cambridge. The CT scan revealed that the dog had a fractured skull above the left eye socket.

The vets say that it might takes several months until the German Shepherd goes back to work, however, the dog’s treatment is going well.
