Reward offered after taxi driver 'throws dog' from car

    NewsAnimal CrueltyTuesday 06 March 2012
An animal welfare charity has offered a £1,000 reward to help identify a taxi driver who reportedly threw a dog from his moving car and then ran it over.
The terrier cross had to be put down after suffering spinal injuries on Derby Road in Wollaton, Nottingham on 21 January.
The RSPCA said the incident, at 23:00 GMT, was witnessed by several people.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) offered the reward for information leading to a conviction.
Mimi Bekhechi, from Peta, said: "Someone in Nottingham must know something about the cruel individual who committed this heartless act.
"We're calling on anyone with information about the case to come forward.
"A person capable of deliberately causing this kind of suffering to a helpless animal demonstrates a very worrying psychological state and must be found."
The RSPCA, which is not involved with the reward, said the dog was male and had been neutered.
