Shelter Dog Sunday - Betty Boop!

NewsShelter Dog SundayFriday 12 December 2014

Every Sunday we run a special feature on a rescue dog looking for a loving home. This week the spotlight is on Betty Boop, a sweet Staffordshire Bull Terrier who loves a cuddle.

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home is the well-known backdrop of ITV's Paul O'Grady - For The Love Of Dogs but what you see on the show is only a fraction of the work that the shelter do. Battersea takes on over 9000 cats and dogs a year, including Betty Boop - a steady 8 year old girl at their London centre.

Look at that big smiley face! Betty Boop is a sweet-natured, laid-back lady looking for a forever home with a calm and loving family. She absolutely loves being around people and likes nothing better than some fuss and affection. That said, this charming girl does have an independent side to her so her new owners will need to appreciate this and be able to tell when she wants a bit of space.

Potential adopters need not be to put off by Betty Boop's age or her breed. The image problem Staffies have unfairly anquired means that shelters across the UK are overflowing with the breed, despite their ability to be loving and gentle companions (which Betty Boop is a perfect example of). Battersea are running a campagin to prove that Staffies are Softer Than You Think - so don't hesitate to head over to their website and find out more about this sweet and affectionate breed. And their life span is on average 12 years, with some recordings of Staffies as old as 19, so you will still have many years of companionship and joy with Betty Boop.

Betty Boop will be a fabulous addition to the family - seeing this sweet girl happily smiling everyday will be incredibly rewarding for her lucky new owners.

If you could offer Betty Boop a home to live out her golden years in, please contact Battersea Dogs & Cats home on 08435 094444 or contact them by email on at [email protected]. Betty Boop's reference number is 314277.
