Every Wednesday we run a special feature on a rescue dog looking for a loving home. This week, the spotlight is on Rex, ready to find a forever family to cuddle with on a sofa.

Battersea and Cats Home is the well-known backdrop of ITV's Paul O'Grady - For The Love Of Dogs but what you see on the show is only a fraction of the work that the shelter do. Battersea takes on over 9000 cats and dogs a year, including Rex, a cheeky lad looking for a loving, forever family.

    Name: Rex

    Breed: Mongrel

    Sex: Male

    Age: 5 years 11 months

    Centre: London

    Reference: 362069

Gentle soul Rex has stolen all the hearts here at Battersea! It has taken Rex a long time to come out of his shell and he was struggling to cope with his new home at Battersea.

Despite this, Rex was very quick to bond with people and we have seen him flourish into the cuddly, cheeky lad we all love.

Owners should be sensitive to Rex's gentle side and provide him with lots of time to settle into his new home.

Rex has been working on his social skills with other dogs, so new owners should be confident in helping him along with his training, he has already done so well and has improved in leaps and bounds already.

Despite his size, Rex thinks he is a lap dog and will subtly come and creep on your lap for a fuss.

Once you have won him over, Rex really is a loyal companion with lots of love to give.

To meet Rex, please contact Battersea’s London centre on 0843 509 4444.
