NewsUK Dog NewsWednesday 07 August 2013
A Toddler is in a bad condition and is being treated for serious injuries after being bitten by a Rottweiler. According to South Yorkshire police the two year old girl was injured in Rawmarsh, Rotherham just before 10am on Tuesday.
The girl is currently in Rotherham District General Hospital and is said to be suffering from serious injuries but not life-threatening. She is being treated for injuries to her head and legs. The dog that attacked is currently in a secure kennel facility whilst police continue their enquiries into the incident.
Currently the identity of the girl is unknown. It is said that she was out walking with a woman who is said to be a relative and a dog at the time and that the Rottweiler was actually on a lead when the attack happened.
The attacked happened yesterday, the same day the Government announced a lot tougher proposals on owners of vicious dogs. One punishment was said to be life imprisonment for any dog that kills. It comes after a spate of dog attacks, one in which Jade Anderson who at just 14 was ravage to death by a pack of dogs going for food which she had.
Since 2005, 16 people including 9 children have been killed by dogs.
