WIN a Family Weekend Ticket to the Family Pet Show!!!

    NewsFriday 03 October 2014

If you and your family love animals The Family Pet Show in Manchester could be the dream weekend out for you. Best of all, we’ve got a family weekend ticket to give away (worth nearly £60) - read on to find out how to win it! AND it’s the only indoor pet show where you can bring your dog along!

Bigger, better and bursting with family fun, The Family Pet Show – for families and their pets – is back at Manchester’s Event City next to The Trafford Centre, at Autumn half term (October 25 & 26).

Now in its second year after a storming start that attracted thousands, it is the only event that welcomes families and their pets – and boy has it got some surprises in store!

Divided into three key areas, WATCHPLAY and LEARN, attractions include dog agility displays, a mini-farm with micro pigs, goats and sheep, Safari Phil and his critter zoo. There are also our free flying birds, a pet fashion show, double-decker play bus, face painting, an information-packed learning station to find out more about how to care for and choose your pet, a series of fun exhibitions and demonstrations and much, much more.

Internet phenomenon Bronte, the singing kitten featured in 3 mobile’s TV ad #SingItKitty that went viral with 5.5 million hits on YouTube, will be making a guest appearance. Also present will be James Bowen, author of “A Street Cat Called Bob”, and his trusty feline friend Bob with their third book “A Gift From Bob: How a Street Cat Taught me the Meaning of Christmas”. Show organisers are delighted the inseparable duo will attend and anticipate a keen interest from those who have read the books and fallen in love with the story of one of the UK’s smartest cats.

Show owner, Carrie Mosley, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be back with a bigger and even better show. Around half of all North West households own a pet, and many of them are multiple pet owners. We know just how much families enjoyed the spectacle, theatre and interaction with every kind of pet last year, and we’re predicting bigger visitor numbers for 2014 with many of our first year supporters already signed up for the new show. Our event is about families coming along to enjoy, and bringing their pets with them if they’d like to – or just finding out more about pets in general.”

Also featured at the Family Pet Show is Crocodile Joe (pictured below), a passionate conservationist and reptile expert, who wil be talking about reptile welfare and important environmental issues, as well as introducing guests to his fantastic collection of rescued reptiles. His demonstrations also offer a great oppotunity for reptile owners to ask any questions about their pet's sepcialist needs.

The show brings together more than 100 retailers and a presence from organisations such as The International Cat Association and canine media partner Our Dogs. A great treat for Autumn school half term, families will also visit the hands-on petting farm and check out some Pet Spa experiences.

Amongst retailers attending is Purrfect Homes, who are supporting the show’s Cat Zone. Their innovative and stylish solutions for exercising indoor cats have proved a big hit with customers - with some products looking more like quirky artworks than traditional ‘cat trees’.

On top of all that, The Family Pet Show is the home of the only Scruffts heat in Manchester, which gives crossbreeds the opportunity to compete at Crufts! On Saturday October 25th judges will consider Most Handsome Dog, Golden Oldie and Best Rescue. On Sunday the 26th the spotlight will be on Prettiest Bitch, Child’s Best Friends and Good Citizen Dog Scheme. For information on how to enter your crossbreed into Scruffts check out the Crufts website - pictured below are Scruffts 2014 winners Sarah Singleton and her pooch Wylie .

Guests are also invited to bring their dogs along for a free microchipping service provided by The Dogs Trust - which is particularly timely given that microchipping will be compulsory by law in the near future.

It’s shaping up to be a fantastic weekend for pet-loving families, with attractions, workshops and experiences to suit everyone.

We have one family ticket to give away - which covers admission to the show for 2 adults and 2 children for the whole weekend! AND you can bring your dog along FOR FREE.

For a chance to win a family weekend ticket, simple share or retweet this link as it appears on our Facebook and Twitter pages! To double your chances of winning, comment on the posts with a photograph of your pooch(es)!
