is 2.5 years old. We have had this lovely girl for 6 months and took her in as a rescue. Unfortunately, we were told she was good with cats (and lived with one cat) and another older dog. We have two large pedigree house cats and it soon became apparent that she was not able to be trusted around cats. However, she frequently chases them and has on occasion gone to bite them, particularly around food (when we are cooking) or at feeding time. We got her to have as a buddy for our younger, smaller whippet. Sadly, she exhibits dominant behaviour towards him that again can come out of nowhere and is affecting him. Early on, we employed the services of an experienced and qualified dog behaviourist and trainer, to assess the dynamics between the two dogs as well as her behaviour in our home. We have tried very hard to enable her to settle into our home and improve her interaction with our other dog, but it is not working. Following another review by the dog behaviourist, they decided that we would need to rehome her and she needs to be the only dog in the house, with no cats and no children.
She is a very affectionate and loving dog and makes a fantastic companion, particularly if you love a lounge lizard and sofa companion. She is excellent on the lead, travels well in the car and enjoys the beach, woods and countryside as well as being happy to walk in town. She just needs to be in the right home for her, that is quiet, with someone who works either part time, from home or is retired. Where there is no competition from another dog or cats. These dogs are prey driven and you need to bear this in mind. She loves playing with toys and particularly with a tennis ball.
She is house trained and can be left for short periods of time. She will happily sit/sleep in a crate but favours her bed (or the sofa!)
If you think you can offer her a home, please get in touch. More information will be provided on enquiry.
